Lawrence County Release Meanings
A Lawrence County release marks the end of one agency's physical custody. It does not always mean the person walked away free of every legal restraint. The Lawrence County Detention Center houses adults awaiting trial, serving county sentences, or waiting for transport to the Missouri Department of Corrections. Each group can leave by a different route. A pretrial detainee may post bond or leave under a court order. A sentenced person may complete a county term. Someone committed to MODOC can leave the county jail only to enter state custody.
The words used in a record matter. A transfer changes the custodian. Parole and conditional release end prison placement but continue state supervision. Probation usually lets a person serve a court-ordered term in the community instead of prison. Discharge generally means the corrections obligation has ended. Time served means the court credits time already spent in custody toward the sentence. None of those terms should be inferred from a charge or bond field alone.
| Release path | What changed | Next official source |
|---|---|---|
| Bond or court order | County jail custody ends while a case may remain open | Case.net and the Circuit Clerk |
| County sentence completed | The jail commitment ends | Sheriff release record and court judgment |
| MODOC transfer | County custody ends and state custody begins | MODOC Offender Search |
| Parole or conditional release | Prison ends while state supervision continues | MODOC and the assigned field office |
| Detainer pickup | Another agency takes custody | Receiving agency and transfer record |
Lawrence County Release Record Fields
The public Lawrence County Sheriff's released roster supplies a useful but limited record. It shows a booking photograph, display name, booking number, exact release date and time, booking date and time, charges, bond information, and a profile link. Search and sort controls help narrow the rolling list. The sheriff does not publish a release reason, destination, court case number, detainer outcome, transport destination, or certification statement in the list view.
An exact release time is stronger proof than mere absence from the current roster. Still, it proves only that the Sheriff's system recorded departure at that time. A bond amount does not prove bond caused the release. A charge label does not establish guilt. The roster can show physical exit while the court docket explains the legal event, and neither source should be made to answer the other source's question.
| Public field | What it supports |
|---|---|
| Name and booking number | Links the release card to a specific jail booking |
| Release date and time | Shows when the Sheriff's system recorded departure |
| Booking date and time | Defines the custody episode shown |
| Charges and bond | Preserves booking data, not the final outcome or release cause |
| Booking photograph | Identifies the booking record at that point in time |
A person can be released from the Lawrence County jail and remain in MODOC, another jail, or ICE custody.
Request Lawrence County Release Records
The online display lasts only 48 hours. That short web window is not a destruction schedule for the underlying record. No official local retention period for the booking and release file was found in the research sweep. Once the card drops from view, ask the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office for the specific record. A narrow request is easier to identify, review, and price than a demand for every document tied to a person.
Missouri's Sunshine Law requires a public body to appoint a records custodian and addresses response timing, copying, and research charges. The research did not support a fixed Lawrence County release-record fee, so request an itemized estimate before chargeable work starts. Ask for electronic copies when practical.
- Give the person's name, booking number, booking or arrest date, and a focused date range. Add a date of birth only when known and appropriate.
- Ask for the booking record, exact release time, release type or authority code, and the receiving agency when the event was a transfer.
- Request the electronic booking photograph and any releasable discharge, property-release, or public log entry tied to the exit.
- Exclude medical, juvenile, victim-identifying, security, sealed, and other protected material from the request.
- Ask the custodian for an estimate and for any denial or redaction to identify its legal basis.

Public office: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Use the Sheriff's official contact page for the current office route. The office warns against sending sensitive details by ordinary email. A web screenshot, alert, or oral statement should not be called a certified record. Ask the custodian directly if certification is required.
Lawrence County Release Record Law
Section 610.010 defines Missouri public records, while section 610.023 covers the custodian and response process. Permitted charges are addressed in section 610.026. Arrest and investigative records have separate access rules under section 610.100. Those laws do not make every jail field public, and protected parts can be withheld or redacted.
Later court outcomes also affect access. Sections 610.105 and 610.120 govern closure and limited access for covered records. Missouri's current expungement statute can close qualifying records through the legal process. Expungement means a court-authorized form of record closure; it is not a casual deletion request. The official custodian and court determine what remains open. An expired 48-hour web card is therefore different from a sealed, closed, or expunged agency record.
Note: Ask for the smallest useful record set because open portions can be produced even when another part is lawfully closed.
Lawrence Release Time Versus Outcome
The sheriff's roster and Missouri Case.net answer different questions. The roster records physical release time but omits the reason. Case.net may show bond activity, dismissal, probation, judgment, sentence, or commitment to MODOC, yet a docket entry does not establish the moment someone walked out of the jail. Pairing the two avoids a common error: treating the booking bond field as the cause of release or treating a court disposition as the custody timestamp.
Open the Missouri Case.net search and match the person, court, and case carefully. Public fields commonly include the case number, filing court, party information, docket entries, events, judgment, sentence, and disposition. Availability varies by case and access rules. For certified court copies or help locating a Lawrence County criminal file, the Circuit Clerk's Criminal Division is reached through option 8 at 417-466-2471.
The official Case.net screen shows why the court search belongs beside, not in place of, the jail record.
A matching docket can explain the legal outcome, while the sheriff remains the source for the recorded jail departure.
Lawrence Release Records Moved
The Sheriff's Office began its move into a new office and jail at 1525 Missouri Drive on December 3, 2024. That change matters when an older directory, saved form, or map result gives a former address. Send release-record requests and in-person questions through the current official contact route. Do not rely on a stale directory simply because it still names the Lawrence County Jail.
The Sheriff's move announcement documents the transition. The research found no support for a special release entrance, pickup procedure, fixed release hour, or property rule at the new site. Those details should be confirmed with the jail instead of inferred from the address. The dedicated Lawrence County Detention Center page keeps the county custody path distinct from the municipal and state systems.
Find Lawrence County Released Inmates
Start with the custody type, not with every available database. A county booking, state prison sentence, federal sentence, and immigration hold belong to different systems. Search results can appear to conflict when they actually record separate stages. The fastest local route is the official 48-hour feed. Older local releases require the Sheriff. A state commitment moves the search to MODOC, while federal and ICE custody use their own locators.
- Check the Sheriff's released roster for an exact Lawrence County departure time and booking number.
- Review the current roster only as a comparator. Disappearance by itself is not proof of release.
- Use Case.net to identify the court event, then use MODOC if the judgment or transfer path points to state custody or supervision.
- Check MOVANS for reported custody or court events, but corroborate an alert with the agency that supplied the event.
- Use BOP or ICE only when federal or immigration custody is plausible.
- Request the release authority and receiving-agency record when no online source supplies the needed answer.
A released person usually drops off a current-custody roster because the roster is a present snapshot, not a historical archive. The Sheriff's separate release tab preserves a brief local window. If the person appears nowhere, search aliases, check the correct agency, and ask for a record. Absence can reflect an older event, an offline feed, protected information, or the wrong custody system.
Lawrence 48-Hour Release Search
Lawrence County publishes a rolling 48-hour release view, not distinct official 24-hour and 72-hour feeds. To identify the last day, read each displayed release timestamp and keep only events within 24 hours of the check. The site's 24-Hour Release List instructions explain that reader-derived filter. A three-day review needs a records request for the 48-to-72-hour gap because those entries may already be gone.
The official roster selector names the actual window used by the county.
The selector confirms that any 24-hour or 72-hour view must be built from the county's 48-hour design or from an older-record request.
The live released roster provides the exact time, photo, and booking fields described above.
Because the county gives no minute-by-minute update promise or public archive control, confirm a recent entry when timing is critical.
MODOC Active Release Records
The MODOC Offender Search covers active offenders, including probationers and parolees. Search by first and last name, including aliases, or by the available state identifier. A result tied to a probation or parole field office can support that prison confinement ended and community supervision continues. It does not mean the person is incarcerated at that office.
The same portal expressly excludes discharged offenders. Full discharge means the state custody and supervision obligation has ended. A former state prisoner with no public result may be fully discharged, but the absence can also stem from spelling, confidentiality, excluded data, or a county-only case. Use the DOC number, sentencing case, institutional caseworker or field officer, and MODOC records route for confirmation. The search is CAPTCHA-gated and displays a data-current timestamp, so quote the status and date labels exactly as shown.
- Parole
- Community supervision after release from prison under Parole Board authority.
- Probation
- Court-ordered community supervision that may occur without a prison release.
- Conditional release
- The statutory transition from the prison portion of a sentence to supervision.
- Discharge
- The end of the corrections obligation, not merely departure from a prison.
Lawrence Municipal Release Exceptions
The Sheriff's Jail Division states that county arrestees are transported to the Lawrence County jail except people held on Aurora and Monett municipal charges. That local exception changes the first search. Absence from the county current roster and released roster may mean the person followed a municipal custody route, not that a release occurred.
Identify the arresting agency and charge level. Then contact Aurora Police or Monett Police and the municipal court. Search Case.net when the matter is indexed there. If the person was later booked on a county charge, return to the Sheriff's roster. If a state commitment followed, use MODOC. The research found no official Aurora or Monett public release archive comparable to the county's 48-hour feed, so the municipal agency, court clerk, and actual receiving jail are the fallback channels.
Note: Monett spans Barry and Lawrence Counties, making the actual booking agency more useful than a county-name assumption.
Lawrence Release Alerts and Supervision
MOVANS is Missouri's search and notification layer for local detention, MODOC, and court events. Search the correct category, choose the matching person and agency, and read the reported event. A missing local-jail result is not proof of release because the state warns that a jail may be offline. A MOVANS alert is also not the certified release record. Confirm the exact Lawrence County time with the Sheriff or the state status with MODOC.
Missouri rebuilt MOVANS in May 2026. Local jail users had to register again, and current local detention alerts use SMS or email. Older instructions for phone calls, a four-digit phone PIN, or VINELink app delivery are superseded for those local records. Existing court and MODOC text or email registrations continued. Register separately when custody and court events are presented as separate records.
For state supervision, District 43 in Aurora is the local MODOC field connection. Reporting details belong to the assigned officer. A field-office listing establishes an official supervision route, not the person's home and not confinement at the office. The statewide Division of Probation and Parole and the Missouri Parole Board govern the larger supervision framework.
Lawrence Federal Release Checks
Lawrence County has no identified BOP prison or ICE detention center, but a local case can still intersect with a federal warrant or immigration detainer. The BOP Inmate Locator is the federal post-sentencing source and includes records from 1982 forward. “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody” means BOP no longer holds the person. It does not rule out local, state, immigration, or federal supervised-release obligations.
The ICE Online Detainee Locator System covers current ICE detention and, under ICE's published scope, releases within the prior 60 days. Search with a nine-digit A-number and country of birth or with biographical information. A Lawrence County roster release followed by an ICE result is consistent: county custody ended and ICE custody began. Request the Sheriff's receiving-agency entry before calling that event a community release.
Lawrence Release Source Comparison
No single search covers every Lawrence County release. Choose the row that matches the custody stage, then confirm the result with the originating office when a precise or certified answer is needed.
| Source | Best use | Key limit |
|---|---|---|
| Sheriff current roster | Present county custody | Disappearance does not prove release |
| Sheriff released roster | Recent county departure time | Only 48 hours; no reason or destination |
| Case.net | Court outcome and sentence | Not the physical exit time |
| MODOC | Active prison or supervision status | Excludes discharged offenders |
| MOVANS | Reported events and alerts | Not a certified agency record |
| BOP or ICE | Federal or immigration custody | Does not resolve ordinary county custody |
Lawrence County Release Facilities
The facility map includes physical custody systems and the local supervision path because a Lawrence County departure can lead to any of them. The Detention Center is the primary local source. Aurora and Monett municipal matters require their own agency check. MODOC controls state custody, District 43 handles local state supervision, and BOP or ICE applies only to the relevant federal system.
- Lawrence County Detention Center: county bookings, sentences, releases, and transfers.
- Aurora Police Department detention/municipal custody pathway: Aurora municipal matters outside ordinary county intake.
- Monett Police Department detention/municipal custody pathway: Monett municipal matters and the actual receiving-jail check.
- Missouri Department of Corrections institutions statewide: state prison custody and release to supervision.
- MODOC Probation and Parole District 43, Aurora: community supervision, not detention.
- Federal Bureau of Prisons system: federal sentence and BOP release status.
- ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations custody: current or recent immigration detention.
